Welcome to the Samhain Celebration!
Long before the modern version of Halloween, October 31st was known as Samhain in our part of the world. Samhain is an ancient Celtic tradition marking New Year’s Eve according to the old Celtic calendar. The day is also known as "the last harvest day," a time when many traditions around the world express gratitude for the harvest and the experiences of summer, before entering the quiet, darker season.
In India, the spiritual New Year is celebrated at this time of the year as Diwali – the festival of lights. Diwali is one of the most important Vedic/Hindu spiritual celebrations, where the triumph of light over darkness is honored, with the goddess Lakshmi, symbolizing abundance and prosperity, playing a central role.
This day is also recognized in many cultures as a time when the veil between our world and the other side is thinnest. It…
